Role Overview
As a Senior IT Disaster Recovery Specialist, you will design, implement, and maintain IT disaster recovery strategies and plans for EY’s critical systems and applications. You will work closely with IT, application, and business teams to ensure high availability, rapid recovery, and compliance with industry best practices.
This role provides the opportunity to lead disaster recovery exercises, database failover tests, and continuous improvement initiatives, while collaborating with cross-functional teams globally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain IT Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies, runbooks, and policies.
- Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses (BIA) to prioritize recovery efforts.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute DR exercises, failover tests, and tabletop simulations.
- Validate recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO) with application and infrastructure teams.
- Maintain documentation for DR processes, communication plans, and compliance.
- Collaborate with vendors and cloud providers for offsite and cloud-based DR solutions.
- Support database backups, replication, and failover validation during DR drills.
- Align database high availability (HA) strategies with overall DR plans.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 4–5 years hands-on experience in IT disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Familiarity with DR frameworks: ISO 22301, NIST SP 800-34, ITIL.
- Experience with DR tools and platforms: Veeam, Zerto, SRM, Commvault, Azure Site Recovery.
- Strong knowledge of RDBMS platforms: MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL.
- Understanding of virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud DR strategies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent documentation, coordination, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as CBCP, ITIL Foundation, or cloud certifications.
- Experience with scripting/automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python.
- Exposure to monitoring and alerting tools: Zabbix, Nagios, SolarWinds.
