Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will:
- Design Transmission and Distribution systems (up to 400kV) for global utilities, following international standards.
- Work on concept, FEED, and detailed design phases for HV/LV Distribution systems, including Oil & Gas, Wind, and BESS projects.
- Develop SLDs, Protection & Control diagrams, cable schedules, interconnection and layout designs.
- Perform lighting, earthing, and lightning protection calculations using Dialux and other software.
- Conduct system studies (load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash) using ETAP or SKM.
- Prepare technical specifications, datasheets, and evaluate vendor documentation.
- Review and approve vendor designs, ensuring compliance and quality control.
- Lead design teams to ensure deliverables meet cost, time, and quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- 8–12 years of experience in Electrical Design within consulting or EPC environments.
- Proven experience with T&D projects – indoor GIS/outdoor switchyards up to 400kV.
- Strong knowledge of Dialux, ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills in English.
- Exposure to UK/Europe/Middle East utility projects preferred.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to deliver under pressure.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of BIM environments and electrical 3D modeling tools.
- Understanding of international electrical codes and standards.
- Strong analytical and leadership skills.
- Passion for innovation and use of digital tools in engineering.
