Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer (Java) at Caterpillar, you will:
- Develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise web applications using Java and cloud technologies.
- Work independently or with teams on complex projects, business features, and application systems.
- Design detailed software deliverables to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, business teams, and cross-functional departments.
- Develop RESTful APIs, ensure test-driven development (TDD/BDD), and maintain clean, scalable code.
- Evaluate and deploy new technologies to enhance Caterpillar’s digital solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on software design and coding standards.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in cloud, microservices, and DevOps practices.
Qualifications
Required
- 8+ years of experience in Java web application development.
- Strong knowledge of Java 8+, Spring Boot, Microservices, RESTful APIs, and AWS Cloud.
- Experience with MySQL/RDBMS.
- Expertise in TDD/BDD frameworks (JUnit).
- Solid understanding of software design principles (SOLID, clean coding).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/IT/Electronics Engineering.
Preferred
- Experience in performance optimization of enterprise applications.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Azure Pipelines, GitHub Actions, etc.).
- Knowledge of Spring Security, OAuth, and authentication frameworks.
- Exposure to Azure or other cloud platforms.
