Job Details at a Glance

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture design and development of enterprise-scale digital solutions supporting eCommerce, condition monitoring, service support, and equipment management.
• Develop, maintain, and evolve global technology roadmaps and digital architecture blueprints for strategic Caterpillar projects.
• Design and implement enterprise data models, metadata structures, and data platforms (including Snowflake data lakes).
• Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to optimize data product performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
• Collaborate across technical and business teams to align solutions with enterprise goals and business requirements.
• Drive architecture meetings, document solutions on collaboration platforms (e.g., Confluence), and support engineering teams throughout development and deployment phases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical and functional issues impacting digital data platforms.
• Own and enhance data domains, ensuring data quality and reusable data product creation across multiple applications and teams.
• Provide technical guidance on cloud services (AWS EMR, Glue, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB, etc.) and data infrastructure decisions.

Essential Skills & Expertise

Must-Have Skills

• Expert in AWS cloud technologies including EMR, Glue, S3, Fargate, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, EventBridge, RDS, and DynamoDB.
• Proficient with Snowflake data lake architecture, SQL querying, Python programming, and Entity-Relationship (ER) data modeling.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems software engineering and enterprise data architecture.
• Proven experience delivering scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud-based data solutions.
• Strong communication skills for mentoring teams and influencing stakeholders.

Good to Have

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and API development.
• Experience with hybrid cloud ecosystems and enterprise-scale product architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering and architecture, with a focus on distributed systems.
• Minimum 5 years hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
• Demonstrated leadership in driving technology strategy and architectural alignment for large-scale digital initiatives.
