About the Role
As a Platform Architect – Manager, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud data platforms. You will partner with stakeholders across engineering, analytics, security, and product teams to translate business needs into robust architecture solutions.
Your role will be critical in enabling AI/ML, real-time analytics, and data modernization initiatives, while ensuring platform scalability, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of cloud-based data platforms including Data Lakes, Warehouses, and Lakehouses.
- Define end-to-end architecture: ingestion, storage, processing, orchestration, security, and consumption layers.
- Translate business requirements into scalable, high-performing data solutions.
- Ensure platform reliability, performance, and cost optimization.
- Provide thought leadership and guide development teams on cloud best practices, tools, and frameworks.
- Govern architecture standards, reusable components, and design patterns.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines, data lineage, and metadata management frameworks.
- Oversee integration of structured, semi-structured, and streaming data sources.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, privacy, and security regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Conduct design reviews and provide mentorship to junior architects and engineers.
- Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Generative AI integration).
- Evaluate and onboard new tools/technologies via POCs and architecture assessments.
Skills & Attributes for Success
- 12–16 years of experience in IT with strong data and platform architecture background.
- Proven experience architecting cloud-native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Expertise in Databricks, Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift.
- Deep understanding of Data Mesh, Lakehouse, Lambda/Kappa architectures.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, ARM).
- Strong knowledge of security, governance, lineage, and monitoring in cloud data ecosystems.
- Ability to evaluate and recommend modern data technologies and architecture patterns.
- Leadership and stakeholder management skills, with excellent communication.
- Experience integrating vendor products and SaaS platforms (Snowflake, AD integration, SSO).
