About the Role
The Mechanical Maintenance SME will oversee and enhance mechanical maintenance operations, ensuring equipment reliability, technical integrity, and efficiency. You will manage the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), lead failure investigations, evaluate technical changes, and implement best practices to drive continuous improvement in mechanical workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Planned Maintenance & Quality Control
- Ensure timely execution and technical accuracy of all planned maintenance tasks.
- Implement quality control measures to enhance equipment reliability.
Maintenance System Administration
- Administer and optimize CMMS (e.g., SAP or similar systems).
- Monitor maintenance schedules, backlog, and performance KPIs.
Change Management & Cost Assessment
- Evaluate mechanical system changes for impact on operations and costs.
- Recommend solutions to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
Failure Investigation & Technical Support
- Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures.
- Provide technical guidance and support for maintenance teams.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and improvements.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for management review.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to enhance maintenance procedures and workflows.
- Lead initiatives to increase operational efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- Minimum 12 years in mechanical maintenance, rig operations, or heavy industry.
- Hands-on experience as a field technician or equivalent (Chief Electrician, Electronic Technician).
- Skills & Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of rig equipment and maintenance processes.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar CMMS.
- Experience in reliability engineering, failure analysis, and process optimization.
- Familiarity with HSE standards and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and leadership skills.
