Role Overview

The Assistant Rig Superintendent ensures operational excellence by supervising daily rig activities, optimizing drilling performance, supporting personnel development, and maintaining strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

Rig Management & Operations

  • Support and oversee day-to-day drilling operations.
  • Monitor equipment performance, operational procedures, and well control practices.
  • Ensure drilling activities meet timelines, budgets, and efficiency targets.

Personnel Management & Development

  • Supervise and mentor rig crew members and junior personnel.
  • Conduct training and certification programs for rig staff.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and resolve operational challenges.

HSE & Quality Assurance

  • Enforce adherence to Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality assurance standards and drilling protocols.
  • Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.

Acting Rig Superintendent Responsibilities

  • Assume full operational and leadership responsibility when designated.
  • Make critical operational decisions to ensure safety, efficiency, and profitability.

Additional Offshore Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with offshore installation teams for smooth rig operations.
  • Ensure crew readiness, emergency preparedness, and compliance with offshore regulations.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: High School Diploma; Technical Degree in Drilling Technology.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years in drilling operations, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Certifications: Valid Well Control Certification; BOSIET for offshore operations.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of wellbore mechanics, drilling practices, and well control principles.
    • Proven leadership, team motivation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage personnel, delegate effectively, and coach junior staff.
    • Strong focus on HSE compliance and quality standards.
