Key Responsibilities of Desktop Engineer Role
- Deliver Robust Desktop Solutions:
- Develop and deploy desktop systems leveraging tools like PowerShell, Microsoft Intune, SCCM, and Windows Autopilot.
- Design Windows Update for Business and Autopatch rings, secure configurations using Windows 11 Security Baselines.
- Collaborative Technical Leadership:
- Work cross-functionally with Service Desk, Security, Network, Collaboration, and Procurement teams.
- Lead small technical project teams and mentor colleagues across time zones.
- Advanced Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis:
- Provide L4 support for platform, driver, and firmware issues.
- Perform detailed diagnostics and create automated scripts for system enrollment, application deployment, and health monitoring.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing:
- Author release notes, support knowledge base articles, and operations manuals.
- Maintain runbooks and training materials to ensure seamless handover to service teams.
- Proactive Process Improvement:
- Identify potential risks and implement preventive measures.
- Utilize telemetry data (Nexthink, Power BI) to improve digital employee experience (DEX).
Essential Skills & Knowledge Requirements
- In-depth expertise in:
- Windows OS installation, configuration, and system integration.
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Microsoft Intune, SCCM, ServiceNow, MSI/MSIX installers, and Hyper-V virtualization.
- Strong understanding of:
- Device Identity Management (Entra ID), Conditional Access, and Device Compliance.
- Loadset software creation, Windows management (GPO, MDM).
- Security configurations and deployment best practices.
- Advanced Troubleshooting Skills:
- Windows 11, M365 Apps, Teams, OneDrive, Browsers (IEdge, Chrome).
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, Proxies, Firewalls).
- Excellent communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex technical solutions to diverse audiences.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
