Responsibilities
As a Software Asset Management Consultant, your key responsibilities include:
- SAM Process Ownership & Execution
- Lead and manage the end-to-end Software Asset Management lifecycle.
- Develop, implement, and maintain SAM policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with licensing terms and conditions.
- ISO/IEC 19770 Alignment
- Conduct periodic SAM maturity assessments.
- Drive continuous improvements using the ISO SAM maturity model.
- ELP (Effective License Position) Review
- Perform regular ELP reviews for compliance and optimization.
- Collaborate with procurement and legal teams on entitlements and contracts.
- Identify risks related to under-licensing or over-licensing.
- SAM Tool Management & Optimization
- Administer and optimize SAM tools (Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro).
- Integrate tools with CMDB, procurement, and ITSM platforms.
- Configure systems for discovery, normalization, and reconciliation.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with IT, procurement, finance, and legal teams to achieve SAM goals.
- Deliver training and awareness sessions on SAM best practices.
- Reporting & Analytics
- Generate dashboards on usage, compliance, and cost savings.
- Present insights to senior management for decision-making.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management.
- Strong knowledge of software licensing models and compliance frameworks.
- Hands-on expertise in Flexera, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro, or similar SAM tools.
- Familiarity with ISO/IEC 19770 standards.
- Experience collaborating with procurement, finance, IT, and legal teams.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
