Key Responsibilities
- Lead and ensure effective implementation of EHS management systems and adherence to IMS and EHS manuals.
- Identify, design, and deliver tailored EHS training programs for staff, visitors, subcontractors, and workmen.
- Monitor and evaluate compliance with legal and regulatory safety requirements, working closely with cluster EHS managers.
- Conduct regular site EHS inspections, document findings, and recommend corrective actions to enhance safety performance.
- Review, appraise, and drive continuous improvement of site EHS performance and safety culture.
- Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) for proactive monitoring and reporting of EHS activities.
- Organize safety campaigns, competitions, and special emphasis programs to foster a strong safety culture.
- Oversee and be accountable for the performance of Site EHS stewards in your area of responsibility.
- Coordinate risk assessments and preparation of Safe Work Methods with engineers and update project risk registers.
- Lead investigations of incidents and accidents, analyze trends, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Establish and maintain emergency preparedness and response procedures at project sites.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive weekly and monthly EHS performance reports to headquarters.
- Verify the quality and compliance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety gadgets used on site.
- Provide timely EHS plan implementation updates and appraisals to senior management.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Extensive experience in Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental (OHS&E) management, preferably within power transmission or heavy industry sectors.
- Strong knowledge of safety management systems, legal compliance, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
- Proven ability to design and deliver effective safety training programs.
- Exceptional leadership and coordination skills managing EHS teams and multi-disciplinary staff.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor EHS performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and report-writing capabilities for clear stakeholder engagement.
Qualifications
- Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environmental Management (PGDISEM) or equivalent.
- 12 to 15 years of progressive experience in EHS roles, preferably within the power transmission or industrial sectors.
