Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with co-location vendors to review and approve mechanical design plans for new and upgraded data centers in the Mumbai region, ensuring AWS standards are met.
• Act as the resident engineer on-site during construction, commissioning, and handover of co-location data center projects.
• Conduct thorough troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for mechanical system failures; develop Corrective Actions (CA) to prevent recurrence.
• Provide technical support for design improvements to enhance capacity, availability, and efficiency of data center facilities.
• Lead engineering site audits to identify risks and recommend remediation strategies for leased or co-location facilities.
• Interface with cross-functional teams including design engineering, operations, safety, and server hardware to maintain consistency and reliability in facility operations.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, often spanning different geographic locations.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts in mechanical infrastructure and operational processes.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil & gas.
• Hands-on experience with design, construction, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical data center mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in data processing and engineering software tools for calculations and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead complex investigations and implement corrective measures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a resident engineer or field-based design consultant.
• Knowledge of regional building codes, regulations, and construction standards.
• Ability to interpret and produce construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documentation.
• Familiarity with mechanical and electrical systems used in data centers, including UPS, generators, switchgear, cooling towers, chillers, pumps, CRAHs, and air economizers.
• Experience with EPMS, SCADA, or BMS control systems (hardware and/or software).
• Proven ability to manage engineering projects and coordinate with consultants and multiple stakeholders.
