Key Responsibilities
As a Sr. Market Analyst at QatarEnergy, you will:
- Develop and deploy market fundamentals and pricing models to expand QatarEnergy’s global and European gas market outlook.
- Provide actionable insights into European gas indices, JKM, and correlated instruments.
- Build, maintain, and optimize complex numerical models for supply-demand balances and trading forecasts.
- Streamline models with advanced coding skills (VBA, Python, SQL).
- Analyze and integrate data from regional and global sources (Platts, Bloomberg, Point Carbon, Kpler, MeteoGroup, and others).
- Translate complex market variables into clear, evidence-based trade recommendations.
- Collaborate with IT, Risk, Finance, and trading desks to align analytics with business needs.
- Maintain a strong external market network to gather insights, competitor intelligence, and innovation opportunities.
- Ensure continuous improvement in market modeling and trading analytics.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of professional experience in Gas/LNG trading and analytics.
- Strong knowledge of European and global gas markets (European gas focus highly preferred).
- Experience with related energy markets: Oil, Power, Coal, and Shipping.
- Advanced coding and modeling expertise using VBA, Python, and SQL.
- Proficiency with Refinitiv, Bloomberg, ICE, Trayport, MS Office, and knowledge of ETRM systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an evidence-based approach.
- Ability to simplify complex datasets into clear, actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
- Flexible and proactive, able to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry, or Engineering.
- Advanced qualifications or certifications in energy markets, trading analytics, or data science are a plus.
