Responsibilities

As a Senior Hardware Engineer – Kavach, you will:

  • Hardware Architecture & Design
    • Lead hardware design for safety-critical railway systems.
    • Work on FPGA/microcontroller/microprocessor-based boards.
    • Develop and maintain hardware documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and design calculations.
  • PCB Development & Review
    • Drive PCB design and layout for high-reliability embedded systems.
    • Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC design considerations.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Design hardware in line with SIL-4 safety integrity level.
    • Ensure compliance with CENELEC safety standards (EN 50126/28/29).
    • Collaborate with RAMS teams for FMEA, FTA, and reliability analysis.
  • Testing & Validation
    • Conduct hardware verification, validation, and qualification testing.
    • Support audits, safety case preparation, and certification processes.
  • Leadership & Mentoring
    • Guide junior engineers on best practices in safety-critical hardware design.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturing teams, and certification bodies.

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong background in embedded hardware design for safety-critical applications.
  • Hands-on expertise with FPGA, microprocessor, and microcontroller-based systems.
  • Proven experience in PCB development (schematic capture, layout review, EMI/EMC).
  • Knowledge of RAMS (FMEA, FTA, MTBF, reliability analysis).
  • Familiarity with Altium, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, and other EDA tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and documentation skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related engineering fields.
  • 8–10 years of experience in hardware design and safety-critical system development.
  • Hands-on experience with SIL-4 design and international railway safety standards.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across multi-disciplinary teams.
