About the Role
As a Senior Consultant – Oracle Data Engineering at Deloitte, you will be part of a high-performing Oracle team responsible for supporting and enhancing enterprise-level data systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring high availability, system stability, and data performance optimization across client environments.
This is a client-facing role, requiring strong technical troubleshooting, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills. You’ll also contribute to automation initiatives and process improvements that enhance efficiency across Oracle-based ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
System Monitoring & Maintenance
- Perform continuous system monitoring, health checks, and preventive maintenance for Oracle data systems.
- Manage and maintain servers, databases, and cloud environments to ensure performance and uptime.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and infrastructure reliability.
Incident & Problem Management
- Lead incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management processes.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve system-level issues efficiently.
- Maintain detailed documentation of incidents, fixes, and best practices.
Automation & Scripting
- Design and implement automation scripts to optimize repetitive processes.
- Work on improving system performance through automation frameworks and custom tools.
Database & API Management
- Utilize strong SQL expertise to support data analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Execute REST API calls (SOAP/POSTMAN) for system integrations and monitoring.
- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and security across Oracle systems.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including developers, infrastructure engineers, and business users.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders through clear verbal and written updates.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide support during high-priority incidents.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong hands-on experience in Oracle Data Engineering and SQL development.
- Expertise in system administration, server management, and infrastructure support.
- Experience with WebLogic servers, Windows environments, and cloud hosting.
- Proficiency in REST APIs, SOAP, and tools like Postman.
- Understanding of automation tools and scripting for process improvement.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of KOBs (Key Oracle Business) is an added advantage.
- Ability to work flexibly in rotational shifts supporting global operations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Oracle Data Engineering, Database Administration, or Infrastructure Support.
- Prior exposure to enterprise-scale systems, cloud operations, or DevOps practices preferred.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent certifications.
- ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Azure, or AWS certifications are a plus.
