Role & Responsibilities
As an RFIC/MMIC Layout Engineer, your responsibilities include:
- Leading full-chip RFIC layout development, including analog and digital components.
- Performing die-size estimations for pad-limited and core-limited approaches.
- Floorplanning using top-down and bottom-up methodologies.
- Planning interface signal routing, power schemes, and verification workflows.
- Ensuring designs meet criteria for speed, capacitance, resistance, power, noise, and area.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (Digital, Analog, CAD) for successful project execution.
- Delivering high-quality, on-schedule layouts aligned with design goals.
- Resolving complex design and layout challenges using sound judgment.
Key Skills & Tools
- Full-chip RFIC/MMIC layout expertise
- Floorplanning and physical verification
- Deep understanding of chip packaging and bonding schemes
- Signal routing and interface planning
- Quality check and verification using industry-standard tools
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Physics, or a related discipline
- 4–7 years of hands-on experience in RFIC/MMIC layout design
- Expertise in at least one of the following:
- RF switches
- Power amplifiers
- Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA)
- VCOs
- Mixers
- Couplers and Combiners
Preferred Experience & Technical Expertise
- Strong grasp of electrical fundamentals and circuit behavior
- Expertise in CMOS, FinFET, and FDSOI technologies
- Knowledge of advanced layout techniques:
- ESD, latch-up, electromigration, crosstalk mitigation, deep submicron layout
- Familiarity with SOC and ASIC design workflows
- Proficiency in industry tools:
- Virtuoso L/XL/GXL (6.1.x/12.1.x)
- Calibre, PERC, STARRC, Totem, ESRA
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate across time zones
- Excellent written and verbal communication
