Summary
ExxonMobil is hiring a Reservoir Simulation Engineer in Bengaluru to support its global upstream portfolio, including Deepwater, Conventional, Heavy Oil, Unconventional, and Carbon Storage assets. This role involves building high-fidelity reservoir models, performing dynamic performance forecasts, and providing technical insights for strategic decisions in production, reservoir management, and carbon storage initiatives. Responsibilities
Reservoir Modeling & Simulation
- Conduct reservoir simulation studies to support Deepwater, Conventional, Heavy Oil, Unconventional, and Carbon Storage assets.
- Integrate geologic, reservoir, and production data into robust reservoir models.
- Perform history-matching and dynamic performance forecasting using calibrated models.
- Quantify subsurface uncertainties using multi-scenario modeling techniques.
Data Analysis & QA/QC
- Conduct data QA/QC, correct anomalies, and identify trends for accurate reservoir predictions.
- Provide technical inputs for workovers, infill drilling, facility capacity, field development, and reserve estimation.
Collaboration & Technical Support
- Work with geologists, wells/completion engineers, data scientists, and petrophysicists to ensure accurate uncertainty ranges are presented to management.
- Prepare technical reports and communicate simulation insights to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the enhancement of reservoir simulation workflows, tools, and technologies.
Skills and Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering (GPA 7.0+).
- Minimum 3 years of upstream oil & gas experience, including reservoir simulation.
- Strong analytical skills for data-driven decision-making.
- Knowledge of reservoir engineering concepts, fluid mechanics, porous media flow, and CFD.
- Hands-on experience with proprietary or vendor engineering analysis tools relevant to reservoir studies.
Preferred:
- Experience with Eclipse, Petrel RE, Intersect, or CMG reservoir simulation software.
- Programming experience in MATLAB, C, or Python.
- Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, data science, and machine learning for advanced analysis.
