Key Responsibilities
As a Principal Contract Specialist at Mott MacDonald, you will:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including:
- Consultancy agreements
- Framework agreements
- Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs)
- Non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)
- Conduct commercial reviews to identify contractual risks and ensure compliance with company governance.
- Lead contract risk management processes, collaborating with Divisional Commercial Managers.
- Provide legal and commercial advice on claims, disputes, and contractual matters.
- Develop and update commercial guidance documents reflecting new regulations and best practices.
- Support internal governance activities with Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Data Protection, and Insurance teams.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure contract compliance across jurisdictions.
- Maintain a proactive approach to commercial risk management in infrastructure and transport projects.
Candidate Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent degree.
- Solid understanding of UK infrastructure contract law, including familiarity with standardized contracts (e.g., NEC).
- Prior experience in engineering, construction, or consulting industries.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and legal drafting skills.
- Sound knowledge of commercial law and contract administration.
