Key Responsibilities
As a Level 1 Oracle Database Administrator, your responsibilities include:
- Supporting and maintaining Oracle and SQL databases in production and development environments.
- Monitoring database performance and proactively resolving issues.
- Assisting with backup and recovery operations using tools like RMAN.
- Performing basic tuning and optimization for Oracle/SQL environments.
- Collaborating with the application and infrastructure teams to support deployments.
- Ensuring compliance with internal policies and database best practices.
- Documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs), change requests, and incidents.
Essential Skills & Tools
- Strong foundational knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server database architecture
- Understanding of physical database design and data modeling concepts
- Familiarity with operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows) at the administrative level
- Ability to use and manage Oracle utilities and monitoring tools (OEM, AWR, RMAN)
- Basic knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
- Good troubleshooting and incident resolution skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology
- Electronics & Communication
- Or equivalent diploma in Computer Science
- Preferred: Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) or equivalent SQL/Database certification
