Summary

ExxonMobil is seeking a skilled Offsites & Utilities Engineer in Bengaluru to lead technical design and project development for utilities systems (steam, cooling water, compressed air, nitrogen, power generation) and offsites systems (tankage, pipelines, product movements via ship, rail, or truck). This role focuses on optimizing operational performance, supporting projects, troubleshooting, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions in the Oil & Gas sector. Ideal candidates will have 8+ years of experience in utilities and offsites systems, proficiency in GT-Pro, Pro-Steam, AVEVA Process Simulator, AFT Fathom, Pipenet, or HYSYS, and strong leadership skills to mentor junior engineers and lead multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

Project & Technical Leadership

  • Lead integrated project teams for utilities and offsites systems during concept development and early project planning.
  • Develop Project O&U basis, integrating new or existing facilities with other disciplines to ensure completeness and technical quality.
  • Perform techno-economic optimization of utilities and offsites scope, balancing CAPEX, profitability, ESG goals, safety, and reliability.
  • Prepare utilities balances, flow diagrams, design philosophies, and design basis documents for new facilities.

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

  • Troubleshoot operational concerns for offsites and utilities systems, including hydraulic constraints and safety issues.
  • Provide mentoring and technical oversight to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Conduct design reviews, P&ID checks, HAZOP participation, and 3D model evaluations.

System Design & Integration

  • Ensure alignment of recommended scope with Business Teams, Manufacturing/Operations, and Senior Technical Professionals.
  • Design and evaluate process equipment for compliance with operating parameters.
  • Support brownfield modifications, major upgrades, and facility optimization initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • B.E. / B.Tech or higher in Chemical or related engineering discipline from AICTE-recognized university.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in utilities (steam generation, cooling water, air, nitrogen, power) and/or offsites systems (tankage, oil movements, pipelines) in Oil & Gas (Refining, Petrochemicals, Upstream, LNG, or Low Carbon Solutions).
  • Familiarity with ASME BPV Codes, CTI Standards, API 650/653/2350/2000/MPMS, NFPA.
  • Proficiency with GT-Pro, Pro-Steam, AVEVA Process Simulator, AFT Fathom, Pipenet, HYSYS.
  • Strong project management, technical judgment, and interface management skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with on-site manufacturing process technical services.
  • Knowledge in Refining Processes, Hydrogen & Ammonia generation, Carbon Capture & Sequestration, FPSO/FLNG/FSRU, LNG liquefaction/regasification facilities.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project teams.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate domestically or internationally.
