Key Responsibilities
Ship Repair Planning & Execution
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise ship repair activities including dry dock and afloat repairs.
- Develop detailed repair schedules, manpower deployment plans, and resource allocation strategies.
- Monitor repair progress, identify delays or cost overruns, and implement timely corrective measures.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout repair processes.
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Liaise with clients, shipowners, classification societies, and internal teams to define repair scope and specifications.
- Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure smooth repair operations.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the ship repair team to enhance efficiency and technical expertise.
- Conduct regular site inspections and participate in progress meetings.
Documentation & Compliance
- Review and approve technical documents, repair estimates, work orders, and reports.
- Ensure timely documentation, invoicing, and handover of repaired vessels.
- Oversee final inspections, sea trials, and certification in compliance with marine standards and classification society requirements.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 15 years of extensive experience in ship repair and maintenance with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of ship systems, structural repairs, and marine repair methodologies.
- Proficient in planning, leadership, project management, and communication skills.
- In-depth understanding of international marine standards including IMO, SOLAS, IACS.
- Experience with project management software, MS Office, and shipyard ERP systems.
