Key Responsibilities
As the Head of Mechanical Engineering (Pipeline) at QatarEnergy, you will:
🔧 Project Leadership & Design Oversight
- Lead the pipeline and subsea engineering scope of offshore facilities for the MM Redevelopment Projects.
- Manage end-to-end design, from FEED through fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
📐 Technical Expertise & Reviews
- Review pipeline designs, subsea layouts, and material specs for compliance with Shell DEPs, international standards, and project-specific guidelines.
- Supervise and approve engineering deliverables such as isometrics, stress analysis, and flow assurance studies.
🧑🤝🧑 Team & Stakeholder Management
- Lead cross-functional engineering teams in coordination with EPIC contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Ensure timely progress of engineering milestones within budget and schedule.
📊 Quality & Compliance
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) standards.
- Support audits, construction progress checks, and technical readiness reviews.
Skills & Experience Requirements
✅ Must-Have Experience
- Minimum 15 years in pipeline and subsea engineering in the oil and gas industry.
- At least 10 years working on offshore pipeline projects.
- Minimum 8 years as a Senior Pipeline Engineer on major projects.
- At least 7 years as Lead Engineer in EPIC/consultancy environments.
🔧 Technical Expertise
- Proficient with pipeline engineering software, Shell DEP standards, and international pipeline design codes.
- Extensive experience in design reviews, EPIC documentation, and project execution lifecycle.
💼 Leadership & Communication
- Proven ability to manage engineering teams, deliver reports, and interface with senior stakeholders.
- Strong planning, presentation, and project coordination skills.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or higher in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Postgraduate qualifications (MSc/MEng) are advantageous.
- Membership in a recognized engineering institution (e.g., ASME, IMechE) is preferred.
