Key Responsibilities
As a Ground Water Modeller at Mott MacDonald, you will:
- Manage and deliver complex groundwater modelling projects for environmental and mining sectors.
- Develop and interpret hydrogeological conceptual models and groundwater data.
- Construct, calibrate, and validate numerical groundwater and contaminant transport models using MODFLOW and MT3D.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support water resource assessments.
- Develop data management systems, analysis tools, and mapping deliverables using GIS and modelling software.
- Prepare and review technical reports, datasets, and visual outputs including tables, figures, and metadata.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of model outputs to support sustainable groundwater management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across global offices to deliver integrated environmental solutions.
Required Skills and Software Proficiency
- Strong command of MODFLOW, MT3D, and groundwater modelling principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS file formats, and data visualization tools.
- Understanding of coordinate systems, projections, and environmental data structures.
- Programming experience in Python, VBA, or similar scripting languages.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and reporting skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and deliver results under deadlines.
- Experience in environmental consulting or water resource modelling is highly preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geology, Hydrogeology, GIS, Engineering, Water Resources, or a related discipline.
- 6–8+ years of experience in groundwater modelling and hydrogeological analysis.
- Proven expertise in finite difference analysis models and data-driven hydrogeological studies.
- Experience working with public datasets, environmental modelling, and sustainable water design.
