Key Responsibilities
As a Data Scientist – GFA at WTW, you will:
- Develop and deploy predictive models to support financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and cost optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate with Finance, HR, Sales Ops, and IT teams to align data science solutions with business goals.
- Design and implement machine learning algorithms for financial risk assessment and scenario analysis.
- Proactively explore data lakes and warehouses to uncover insights for senior leadership.
- Build dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
- Ensure data integrity, compliance, and adherence to governance and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to the development of data products and automation tools for financial decision-making.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, and AI applications.
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with big data tools like Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, or MapReduce.
- Expertise in data visualization with Tableau or Power BI.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex data science concepts to business stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and problem-solving mindset.
- Understanding of generative AI models and their role in finance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of data science experience (finance or insurance preferred).
- Familiarity with financial reporting standards and regulatory compliance.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Prior work in financial services, insurance, actuarial, or related domains is highly valued.
