Key Responsibilities
As a Level 2 Managed Services Engineer (Linux), you’ll:
- Troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex Linux server issues in a cross-technology environment.
- Apply system-level analysis to solve incidents, using predefined procedures and Linux expertise.
- Perform server health checks, patching, and system updates as part of scheduled maintenance.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve client issues effectively.
- Use ITSM tools to manage tickets, escalate issues, and track resolution progress.
- Maintain and update technical documentation, SOPs, and incident records.
- Monitor and optimize system performance, security compliance, and uptime.
- Contribute to continuous service improvement initiatives and suggest automation opportunities.
- Provide mentoring and support to L1 engineers as needed.
Required Skills
- Solid hands-on experience with Linux system administration (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Proficiency with monitoring and automation tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Ansible, or similar).
- Understanding of ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, BMC Remedy) and incident management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across technologies.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and deliver within SLAs.
- Good written and verbal communication for documenting and reporting issues.
- Awareness of cross-platform infrastructure components (networking, virtualization, storage).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in a Linux administration or managed services engineer role.
- Certifications like Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), CompTIA Linux+, or AWS/Linux Foundation certifications are a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices or ITIL Foundation Certification preferred.
