Key Responsibilities

The Subsurface Reliability Engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to enhance asset performance and ensure the integrity of subsurface operations. This role challenges candidates to proactively identify potential risks, implement solutions, and continuously improve equipment and operational processes.

You will play a critical role in analyzing data, optimizing equipment reliability, and ensuring operations meet performance and safety standards. The position is ideal for candidates who take pride in solving complex engineering challenges and contributing to operational excellence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reliability Analysis: Conduct detailed reliability and risk assessments of subsurface equipment and processes, identifying potential failure modes and mitigation strategies.
  • Data Management: Utilize advanced analytics to monitor asset performance, detect trends, and provide actionable insights.
  • Collaboration: Partner with geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and production engineers to implement tailored reliability programs.
  • Failure Investigation: Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures, develop corrective actions, and implement preventive measures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance equipment design, operational procedures, and maintenance practices.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve reliability and operational performance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all reliability activities adhere to industry regulations and company standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present detailed reports and dashboards on reliability trends and improvement initiatives to management and stakeholders.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Expertise in reliability engineering, risk assessment, and operational optimization.
  • Proficiency in Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), RCA, and reliability modeling software.
  • Strong knowledge of subsurface equipment, systems, and technologies used in shale and tight formations.
  • Excellent data analysis, reporting, and visualization skills (Excel, analytics tools).
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to engage with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives and integrate emerging technologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in reliability engineering, reservoir engineering, or production engineering, preferably with shale and tight oil & gas assets.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and regulations related to subsurface operations.
  • Hands-on experience with reliability assessment tools, preventive maintenance strategies, and operational performance optimization.
