Summary

Chevron is seeking a Carbonate Stratigraphy Technical Geologist in Bengaluru, India to support the Reservoir Characterization sub-team within Chevron ENGINE. This role focuses on delivering high-quality carbonate depositional system frameworks and reservoir characterization products used to evaluate hydrocarbon reservoirs. The ideal candidate will have expertise in carbonate sedimentology, stratigraphy, and reservoir modeling, collaborating with global teams and Chevron Technical Center (CTC) subject matter experts. Key Responsibilities

  • Execute carbonate stratigraphic and reservoir characterization workflows to evaluate source, reservoir, and seal in hydrocarbon reservoirs.
  • Integrate multiple datasets to construct robust geologic frameworks from regional to field-scale carbonate systems.
  • Collaborate with Chevron Technical Center (CTC) experts and global GCC teams to enhance reservoir modeling capabilities.
  • Incorporate biostratigraphy, thin-section analysis, and diagenesis data into final reservoir quality evaluations.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute integrated studies, assessing petroleum system elements and risks across multiple sub-disciplines.
  • Assist with research projects, technology development, and collaboration with laboratory/academic partners.
  • Provide guidance and support to Asset Class Geologists and Technical Specialists for field development products.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Geology with a focus on carbonate stratigraphy and sedimentology.
  • Proven experience in carbonate stratigraphy and reservoir characterization in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency with Petrel; familiarity with ArcGIS, Spotfire, and advanced data analysis tools is beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of subsurface business needs and ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Knowledge of diagenesis, biostratigraphy, and reservoir quality evaluation in carbonate systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in Petrel interpretation workflows, including seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and integration of wireline/well data.
  • Experience executing integrated workflows with reservoir modelers and cross-disciplinary specialists.
  • Previous work in geothermal or carbon sequestration projects is a plus.
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and collaborate with global geoscience teams.
