Key Responsibilities
As a Cab System Design Engineer at Caterpillar, you will:
- Lead the end-to-end cab design process from concept to production.
- Act as the primary contact for CPPD, reliability, AQE, NPI builds, resourcing, and localization.
- Collaborate with SCM, Manufacturing, SDE, SQE, and cross-functional teams to meet design goals.
- Ensure compliance with APQP, DMFEA, DMIAC, PPAP, WPS, and PQR processes.
- Support suppliers and buyers with technical inputs for part development.
- Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T reviews.
- Provide technical support to resolve field failures, fit-up issues, and reverse engineering projects.
- Deliver cost-saving and quality improvement projects.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Strong knowledge of cab structure design and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on expertise in Creo (solid modeling, sheet metal, design principles).
- Proficiency in Teamcenter or equivalent PLM tools.
- Ability to interpret and apply FEA reports and ISO standards.
- Familiarity with tooling, validation methods, and paint processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with cross-team collaboration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Production, or Automobile Engineering.
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience, with a proven record of completing 2+ cab/machine designs from concept to production.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt preferred).
- Experience with field failure resolution and reverse engineering.
