Key Responsibilities
🛠️ Hull Fabrication & Assembly Oversight
- Supervise block fabrication, fit-up, and welding operations across assigned zones.
- Ensure proper alignment, tolerance checks, and assembly of hull blocks per structural drawings.
📐 Technical Interpretation & Standards
- Interpret welding symbols, ISO standards, and class rules (ABS, DNV, BV).
- Verify quality and technical compliance during construction and inspections.
📅 Schedule & Coordination
- Monitor daily production progress against timelines and resolve bottlenecks proactively.
- Collaborate with planning, design, and QC teams to align activities and prevent delays.
✅ Quality & Compliance
- Conduct inspections and coordinate client/classification society walkthroughs.
- Document and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), reworks, and quality audits.
🔧 Troubleshooting & Site Operations
- Resolve steelwork and welding-related issues during fabrication and erection.
- Support pre-outfitting, lifting, and block erection activities as required.
🧯 Safety & Documentation
- Enforce HSE standards and ensure safe production practices.
- Maintain structured records of daily progress, man-hours, quality metrics, and incidents.
Required Skills & Competencies
🔍 Technical Skills
- Proficient in interpreting hull structural drawings, weld specifications, and P&IDs
- Hands-on knowledge of welding processes: SMAW, FCAW, SAW
- Strong understanding of shipyard production workflows and fabrication methods
💻 Software Knowledge
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Tribon, AVEVA Marine, and MS Office Suite
🧠 Soft Skills
- Effective team leadership and coordination skills
- Strong communication with ability to liaise with multiple departments
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to make decisions under pressure
Qualifications
- Educational Background:
- B.Tech in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture
