Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant Hydraulic Modelling Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will:
- Collaborate with engineering teams on wastewater and drainage studies from feasibility to detailed design stages.
- Supervise and guide Graduate Engineers on hydraulic network modelling projects, ensuring quality and accuracy.
- Provide technical direction for modelling studies and resolve complex project challenges.
- Support and mentor junior modelling staff to develop technical expertise.
- Liaise with cross-disciplinary teams to maintain the integrity and quality of overall design deliverables.
- Develop innovative solutions aligned with industry best practices and UK water industry standards.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and methodologies in the water sector.
Required Skills and Software Proficiency
- Proficiency in InfoWorks ICM SE, InfoWorks CS, and MapInfo GIS packages.
- Experience with InfoWorks ICM 2D, ArcGIS, or InfoNet preferred.
- Knowledge of SUDS, sewer rehabilitation, flood alleviation schemes, and 2D integrated modelling desirable.
- Familiarity with UK and international codes and standards in the water industry.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work independently under pressure while collaborating effectively within diverse teams.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.E. in Civil Engineering and M.Tech/MS in Water Resources or Environmental Engineering from a recognized university.
- Chartered Engineer status or currently working toward chartership preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in model building, verification, and solution development using InfoWorks ICM SE/CS.
- Strong technical knowledge in wastewater network model updates using manhole, CCTV, and flow surveys.
- Experience in project management or line management of modelling projects is an added advantage.
