π§ͺ Key Responsibilities
As a Corrosion Engineer at ExxonMobil, you will:
π Corrosion & Integrity Management
- Provide technical support for corrosion risk mitigation in upstream, refining, and chemical operations.
- Analyze corrosion data from sensors, probes, and inspection reports.
- Design fit-for-purpose corrosion monitoring programs, including selection of probes and coupon locations.
π§ Data Analysis & Modeling
- Use corrosion modeling tools (proprietary + 3rd party) to predict corrosion behavior.
- Support failure analysis investigations and recommend mitigation strategies.
π Technical Collaboration
- Interface with multi-disciplinary teams: Process, Mechanical, Instrumentation, Pipeline, and more.
- Collaborate with Flow Assurance and Mechanical Integrity teams for integrated corrosion strategies.
π Process Improvement & Documentation
- Continuously improve corrosion work processes using latest industry standards.
- Document findings and maintain knowledge-sharing across global teams.
β Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in corrosion engineering within oil & gas, petrochemical, or upstream operations
- In-depth understanding of:
- Aqueous chemistry and fluid-to-metal interactions
- Internal and external corrosion mechanisms
- Corrosion monitoring tools (coupons, probes, sensors)
- Familiarity with risk-based inspection (RBI) strategies and corrosion failure analysis
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Experience in reviewing and approving repair plans and inspection scopes
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work with international teams
- Open to flexible work hours and international travel based on project needs
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards for corrosion mitigation
