π Key Responsibilities
As a Cybersecurity Consultant in the Detect & Respond team, your responsibilities will include:
π Security Monitoring & Triage
- Monitor security alerts via SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel)
- Perform initial triage, eliminate false positives, and escalate valid threats
- Ensure documentation and tracking of incidents via ticketing systems
π‘οΈ Incident Handling & Response
- Lead in-depth investigation of escalated threats and vulnerabilities
- Analyze logs, correlate events, identify threat actor behavior and root causes
- Coordinate containment and remediation strategies with internal teams
βοΈ SIEM Tuning & Detection Engineering
- Develop, fine-tune, and implement detection rules and correlation logic in SIEM tools
- Customize alerts and automation to enhance response effectiveness
π¨βπ« Mentorship & Process Optimization
- Mentor L1 analysts and guide junior team members on technical analysis
- Contribute to the improvement of SOC runbooks and standard operating procedures
π§ Skills & Qualifications
β Essential Skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in Security Operations Center (SOC) at L1/L2 level
- Proficiency in SIEM platforms (Splunk, QRadar, Sentinel)
- Strong understanding of incident response lifecycle, MITRE ATT&CK, and Cyber Kill Chain
- Familiarity with EDR tools (CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender, Carbon Black)
- Deep knowledge of network protocols, OS logs, and threat detection
π Preferred Certifications
- CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker)
- CompTIA Security+
- Splunk Core Certified
- Any related security certifications (e.g., GCIA, GCIH, or equivalent)
π Education Requirements
- B.Tech / B.E. / B.Sc / BCA / MCA or Masterβs in Computer Science or IT (Full-time only)
