π§ Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control daily operations of the nickel electroplating and electroforming process ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Oversee equipment, instruments, and maintenance checks to guarantee smooth and safe plating operations.
- Implement documented work instructions and router requirements to maintain production consistency.
- Perform root cause analysis on process defects and lead corrective action implementation.
- Train and qualify operators on specialized plating processes and equipment.
- Collaborate with Quality teams for calibration and quality compliance of process instrumentation.
- Develop and review Standard Work, EHSRA, Heat Maps, and Standard Operating Documents (SOD).
- Prepare and periodically review PFMEA to identify and mitigate potential process risks.
- Manage consumables, implement cost-saving ideas, and drive productivity improvement initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to customer specifications and NADCAP special process requirements.
- Mentor and lead a team of processing engineers to uphold best practices in safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
π― Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree (B.E./B.Tech) in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or MSc in Chemistry.
- 8 to 15 years of hands-on experience in nickel electroplating and aerospace coating processes.
- Deep knowledge of electroplating chemistry, process control, and equipment operation (tanks, rectifiers).
- Expertise in surface preparation techniques including polishing, buffing, and cleaning.
- Proficient in troubleshooting plating issues such as pitting, burning, and adhesion problems.
- Familiarity with plating bath chemistry, pH control, additives, and thickness measurement methods.
- Strong understanding of environmental, health, and safety regulations related to chemical handling and waste management.
- Experience preparing for NADCAP audits and maintaining aerospace quality standards.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and mentor engineers and operators.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
