About the Role
As a Rig Electrician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment on the rig. You will perform routine preventive maintenance, troubleshoot electrical issues, and support the Chief Electrician with installations and complex repairs. You will ensure compliance with safety, operational, and quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the rig.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment, including PLCs, VDFs, and drilling electrical systems.
- Support installation of new electrical systems under the guidance of the Chief Electrician.
Daily Maintenance & Inventory Management
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure operational reliability.
- Maintain inventory of electrical tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Documentation & Reporting
- Record all maintenance, repair, and inspection activities accurately.
- Report electrical issues and provide recommendations to the Chief Electrician.
Safety & Permitting
- Adhere to HSE guidelines and electrical safety protocols.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with company and regulatory standards.
Communication & Collaboration
- Collaborate with rig personnel and other departments to support smooth operations.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior electrical staff as needed.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in oil & gas or remote field/rig operations.
- Knowledge of PLC systems, VDF drives, and drilling electrical equipment.
- Skilled in troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
