About the Role
As a Rig Superintendent, you will take overall responsibility for the performance, safety, and profitability of assigned rigs. You will manage drilling operations, well completion, maintenance, and personnel, including subcontractors, ensuring high standards in HSE, quality, and operational efficiency. You will also serve as a key liaison with clients and internal stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Drilling Operations & Well Completion
- Oversee all aspects of drilling operations and well completion activities.
- Optimize drilling performance, reduce costs, and ensure projects meet timelines.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to drilling crews and engineers.
Personnel Management & Training
- Lead, motivate, and supervise multiple drilling crews.
- Provide mentorship, training, and competency development for rig personnel.
- Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with company standards.
HSE & Quality Assurance
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE regulations and company safety standards.
- Implement quality assurance programs for rig operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and oversee incident investigations and corrective actions.
Client Relations & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development activities by demonstrating operational excellence.
Rig Management & Oversight
- Manage assets, resources, and equipment to maximize operational efficiency.
- Monitor rig performance, maintenance schedules, and operational KPIs.
- Implement best practices for asset protection, reliability, and operational continuity.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High School + Technical Degree in Drilling Technology.
- Experience: Minimum 12 years in oilfield operations with a track record of leading multiple drilling crews.
- Strong knowledge of wellbore operations, drilling optimization, and rig management.
- Expertise in HSE compliance, safety leadership, and operational risk management.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and client relationship management skills.
- Certifications: Valid IWCF/IADC Well Control – Supervisor Level, plus other industry-recognized drilling certifications.
