The Technology & Transformation (EAD–Engineering) team at Deloitte helps organizations unlock value from their data and technology ecosystems. Key Responsibilities
As a Java Consultant, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications and APIs.
- Work with Golang for cross-platform services and backend modernization.
- Collaborate with teams to migrate legacy systems (e.g., COBOL on IBM Z) into modern architectures.
- Perform data integration and API development aligned with ISO8583 or OSI protocols.
- Understand and interpret vendor XML configurations and deployment scripts.
- Optimize SQL database operations, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Analyze mainframe COBOL code for reverse engineering and rewriting in Go.
- Provide technical guidance and code reviews, ensuring adherence to best practices.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, maintainable enterprise applications.
- Communicate effectively with POD leads to influence daily design and technical decisions.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2–5 years of hands-on experience in Java and Golang development.
- Strong experience in API development, integration, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in SQL and database management.
- Exposure to ISO8583 or OSI Layer 4 APIs is an advantage.
- Familiarity with vendor product XML configurations, mainframe systems, and COBOL code analysis.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to adapt to ambiguity.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
- Motivated to offer “effective challenge” to improve technical design outcomes.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in polyglot tech environments.
- Exposure to cloud-based deployment models and DevOps practices.
- Understanding of legacy modernization and system re-engineering projects.
- Ability to learn new frameworks and tools quickly in a fast-paced setting.
Location and Working Model
- Base Location: Delhi CEC (Pan-India hybrid flexibility)
- Work Type: Hybrid – balance of remote and onsite collaboration
- Travel: Occasional travel to client sites, based on project needs
