Responsibilities

As a System Interface Manager for Kavach Product Development, you will:

  • Interface Definition & Control
    • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for onboard, trackside, and vendor systems.
    • Ensure seamless interoperability between Kavach onboard units, trackside equipment, and third-party solutions.
    • Manage interface baselines aligned with evolving system architecture.
  • Requirements & Change Management
    • Capture and validate interface requirements from customers and regulatory bodies.
    • Maintain traceability throughout the lifecycle in compliance with EN 50126/8/9 standards.
    • Handle interface-related change requests, impact assessments, and configuration control.
  • Integration & Verification
    • Support lab testing, field validation, and commissioning phases.
    • Define and supervise Verification & Validation (V&V) strategies for SIL-4 compliance.
    • Collaborate with cross-domain teams for smooth integration.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Identify and mitigate interface-related hazards.
    • Support safety case preparation, hazard logs, and ISA/RDSO approvals.
    • Ensure designs comply with functional safety standards (EN 50126, 50128, 50129, 50159).
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all interface-related issues.
    • Lead technical discussions with suppliers, Indian Railways, and internal teams.
    • Provide regular status updates on risks, dependencies, and resolutions.

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Strong background in railway signaling, ATP, ETCS, or CBTC systems.
  • Proven track record in system engineering, interface management, and subsystem integration.
  • Hands-on experience with requirements management and configuration tools (DOORS, JIRA).
  • In-depth knowledge of train-to-trackside communication protocols and interoperability challenges.
  • Familiarity with RAMS processes, hazard analysis, and SIL-4 safety verification.
  • Excellent leadership, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or Railway Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 8–12 years of relevant experience in railway signaling or ATP systems.
  • At least 5 years in system/interface management for complex, safety-critical projects.
  • Knowledge of CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50159).
