Key Responsibilities

As a Procurement Specialist at Flex, Chennai, your daily responsibilities will include:

• Issue purchase orders (POs) to vendors in a timely and accurate manner.
• Follow up with suppliers for order confirmations and ensure on-time payments.
• Track material delivery status and manage vendor communications.
• Prepare Open Purchase Order Reports and Shortage Reports for review.
• Execute core procurement processes efficiently for assigned products.
• Meet or exceed defined service levels and inventory targets using procurement metrics.
• Coordinate with internal business partners and suppliers for PO changes.
• Select suppliers for new orders based on approved purchasing strategies.
• Maintain and update supplier database accurately.
• Identify and implement operational efficiencies to enhance procurement processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis to resolve service issues quickly.
• Prepare customized reports to analyze performance and recommend process improvements.
• Manage shortage/excess escalations, urgent receipts, past-due orders, and receiving challenges.

Required Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP systems (preferably BAAN).
• Knowledge of order processing, procurement, supply chain management, and order management.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in procurement processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Engineering Graduate.
• 3–7 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
• Previous experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably electronics, is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with procurement metrics, inventory management, and supplier coordination.
