About the Role
As a Software Principal Engineer at Dell Technologies, you’ll lead the development of innovative software systems that align with customer needs and the evolving technology landscape. This role demands deep technical expertise, hands-on development, and architectural contributions to high-impact software and storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and architecture of complex software and storage systems
- Develop, evaluate, and review software specifications for Dell’s high-performance products
- Guide coding/debugging for scalable, reliable, and flexible programs
- Collaborate with global teams on software methodologies and technical problem-solving
- Contribute to the development and implementation of test strategies and automation for system validation
- Ensure software solutions meet performance, security, and reliability standards
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong proficiency in programming languages (C, C++, etc.)
- Expertise in Linux systems, operating systems internals, and firmware/BIOS
- In-depth knowledge of device drivers, databases, embedded software, and utilities
- Ability to code/debug complex systems and guide junior engineers
- Experience across multiple programming environments, hardware platforms, and development tools
- Ability to learn and adapt to new tools, languages, and technologies with minimal supervision
- 8–12 years of hands-on experience in software/system development
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working on large-scale, distributed software systems
- Exposure to storage systems architecture is a strong advantage
