Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer I at Optum, you will:
- Build extensible and reusable UI and service components for seamless customer experience.
- Partner with Tech Leads and Delivery Leads to implement innovative healthcare technology solutions.
- Drive enterprise adoption strategies ensuring alignment with business goals and engineering standards.
- Ensure software deliverables meet quality, security, and compliance requirements.
- Prioritize, plan, and manage team activities independently while mentoring junior engineers.
- Implement and maintain security-first approaches, track vulnerabilities, and ensure rapid remediation.
- Support incident management and War Room responses in case of production issues.
- Continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies for higher productivity.
- Stay updated on latest technologies and frameworks, providing technical guidance to the team.
- Collaborate with broader engineering teams to drive innersource adoption and platform engineering initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with web, services, and data systems.
- 2+ years experience in building pixel-perfect user interfaces.
- Strong experience with microservices/APIs using Java/Spring Stack.
- 2+ years working with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Expertise in enterprise security, logging, monitoring, observability, and incident management.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience with React, NodeJS, MongoDB, AWS.
- Hands-on with GIT, CI/CD tools, and application monitoring tools (Splunk, Grafana, Dynatrace, PDC).
- Experience in healthcare technology or data science projects.
