Key Responsibilities
Risk Valuation & Reporting
- Independently verify exposure and valuation of executed energy trading transactions.
- Ensure trading activities remain within mandated risk limits.
- Collaborate with global risk teams to capture, challenge, and communicate trading risks and returns.
- Implement and maintain controls for SOX and GRA attestation.
- Develop KPI metrics and provide actionable insights to Shell Energies trading business.
- Support ETRM implementation and system projects including ADA and Aspire.
Process Performance
- Analyze and report portfolio risks across energy trading activities.
- Ensure accurate valuation and price reporting for complex deals.
- Develop risk measurement models for unique physical deals in Gas, Power, and Energy Products.
- Provide independent risk assessments and advice to commercial teams.
- Monitor risk-reward metrics using VaR, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
Process Improvement
- Standardize deal evaluations and risk analytics across product and business lines.
- Implement tools for “what-if” analysis and scenario planning.
- Drive process automation, system enhancements, and efficiency improvements.
- Build and strengthen relationships with T&S Market Risk and other stakeholders for change management.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead a global team of 10–15 risk professionals with 2–4 direct reports.
- Develop team expertise in Gas, Power, and EPTB risk management.
- Oversee staff planning, recruitment, and retention.
- Promote collaboration between operations, trading, and risk teams.
Skills & Requirements
- Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or Science; Postgraduate or CFA/FRM preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in financial risk management, energy trading, or commodities markets.
- Expertise in Gas & Power trading, derivatives, carbon markets, and risk modeling.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
- Experience with ETRM systems (Endur, Aligne) and trading risk analytics.
- Ability to analyze complex data, ensure detail accuracy, and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
