Responsibilities
As a Lead Software Engineer at Bain & Company, your role will include:
- Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain cloud-based AI and analytics applications using modern full-stack technologies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver client-ready solutions.
- Cloud & Containerization: Deploy and scale applications using Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform automation.
- API & Microservices Development: Build secure, high-performing APIs and microservices with robust documentation.
- Performance & Security: Implement best practices for system reliability, latency, scalability, and data privacy compliance.
- DevOps & CI/CD: Collaborate with infrastructure teams to optimize pipelines and workflows using Git, GitHub Actions, and CI/CD practices.
- Client Engagement: Work in multi-disciplinary teams with consultants and directly support Bain clients across industries.
- Innovation: Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI, Generative AI, LLMs, prompt engineering, workflow orchestration (Airflow, Kubeflow, dbt, Beam).
- Mentorship & Leadership: Guide teams, contribute to code reviews, and set high standards for engineering excellence.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
- Experience: 6+ years at Senior/Staff level in software engineering with proven leadership.
- Technical Expertise:
- Backend: Django, Flask, FastAPI
- Frontend: React, Angular, Vue.js, HTML, CSS
- Cloud: AWS, Azure, GCP (Terraform automation preferred)
- Python: 3+ years of expertise
- Databases: Large-scale structured/unstructured database systems, schema design, scalability
- DevOps: Git, GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines
- Orchestration: Airflow, Kubeflow, Beam, Luigi, or similar
- Knowledge Areas:
- API design and implementation
- Data architecture and workflow automation
- Security and compliance in cloud environments
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving mindset, curiosity, and ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
