Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Software Engineer – SRE (Python) at JPMorgan Chase, you will:
- Champion Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices within the team and broader organization.
- Partner with Product teams to define non-functional requirements (NFRs) and availability targets.
- Implement observability and reliability designs for complex, scalable, and resilient systems.
- Create and deliver high-quality designs, roadmaps, and program charters.
- Conduct resiliency testing including wargames, failover exercises, and chaos experiments.
- Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on SRE principles, automation, and system reliability.
- Debug critical components, troubleshoot defects, and optimize application performance.
- Contribute actively to internal SRE forums, communities of practice, and guilds.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with hands-on Site Reliability Engineering expertise.
- Technical Expertise:
- Observability, service-level objectives, alerting, telemetry collection.
- Cloud infrastructure and microservice-based architecture.
- Automation and toil reduction using Python, Java, or C++.
- Monitoring Tools: Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, OpenTelemetry.
- Leadership: Ability to mentor teams and influence SRE adoption.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Recognized contributor to engineering and SRE communities.
