Summary

McKinsey & Company is looking for a skilled Knowledge Analyst – Procurement to join its Procurement Hub in Gurugram or Chennai, India. This role is ideal for professionals with 3+ years of consulting or industry experience in procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and cost optimization. As a Knowledge Analyst, you will deliver strategic procurement insights, spend analysis, sourcing strategies, and vendor evaluation for clients across industries such as automotive, consumer goods, pharma, retail, and travel & logistics. This is a high-impact role involving client engagement, data-driven insights, and frequent travel (>70%) to client locations across India and abroad.

Responsibilities

  • Drive procurement workstreams for specific categories under guidance from senior content experts.
  • Conduct spend analysis, total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis, and cleansheet costing for client organizations.
  • Support supplier identification, vendor development, and contract analysis to optimize procurement operations.
  • Develop sourcing strategies, RFQ management, negotiation approaches, and tracking mechanisms.
  • Assist client service teams with insights, proposals, and capability-building activities.
  • Lead or support knowledge development projects, including creating internal databases and benchmarking tools.
  • Travel extensively (>70%) to client sites within India and internationally for project delivery and knowledge building.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and procurement best practices.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology; MBA or Master’s preferred.
  • 3+ years of industry or consulting experience in procurement, sourcing, supplier management, and vendor development.
  • Strong analytical skills for spend analysis, costing, and sourcing decisions.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and analytics/statistical tools.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with capability to synthesize complex information and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge or experience with e-procurement platforms, RFQ tools, spend analysis tools, should-cost/zero-based costing, and e-auctions.
  • Intellectual curiosity, high ownership, and a growth mindset.
  • Ability to handle client-facing responsibilities and manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.
