Key Responsibilities
As a Commis 1 – South Indian Chef, you will:
- Prepare, cook, and serve authentic South Indian dishes to the highest standards.
- Work under the guidance of senior chefs while taking ownership of a kitchen station.
- Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with HACCP.
- Monitor stock levels, requisition supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Assist in managing food costs and meeting departmental objectives.
- Train and guide junior chefs while supporting team collaboration.
- Perform routine checks (temperature, labeling, storage, and cleaning schedules).
- Report hazards, defects, or equipment issues promptly to senior chefs.
- Ensure punctuality, professionalism, and consistency in daily operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of professional culinary experience (South Indian cuisine preferred).
- Previous experience as Commis I or Commis II in a reputable hotel or restaurant.
- Culinary certificate or diploma from a recognized institution preferred.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Strong ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Passion for authentic Indian cuisine with attention to detail.
