Key Responsibilities

As a Chevron Lead Data Scientist, you will lead the development and deployment of AI/ML models that solve critical business challenges, optimize operational workflows, and enhance predictive decision-making. You will mentor teams, collaborate across business units, and ensure high-quality data science solutions are delivered at scale.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI/ML models for Chevron business operations.
  • Collaborate with AI Technical Managers, data engineers, and domain experts to integrate models into enterprise workflows.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage advanced analytics, machine learning, and optimization algorithms to enhance business performance.
  • Conduct data cleaning, exploratory analysis, and model testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Establish and maintain AI/ML model lifecycle management processes.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance in modeling techniques, analytics tools, and consulting practices.
  • Translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Drive innovation in AI/ML and implement solutions aligned with Chevron’s digital transformation strategy.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in AI/ML model development, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and cloud AI/ML services (Azure Machine Learning, Databricks preferred).
  • Solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and probability applied to business problems.
  • Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience with data cleaning, feature engineering, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
  • Strategic thinker, results-driven, and adaptable to rapidly evolving technologies and business needs.

Qualifications

  • 10–15 years of experience in AI/ML, data science, or advanced analytics, including at least 5 years in designing and deploying models.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Experience in the energy sector or knowledge of the oil and gas value chain is preferred.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional analytics projects and delivering measurable business impact.
  • Ability to work in global operations supporting enterprise-scale initiatives.
