🛠️ Responsibilities

As a Battery Supplier Industrialization Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Review, establish, and qualify manufacturing processes for battery cell materials.
  • Oversee supplier production output and support capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Develop In-Process Control (IPC), Incoming Quality Control (IQC), and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) systems.
  • Implement and qualify appropriate metrology tools for material quality analysis.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance process yields and reduce material impurities.
  • Lead failure analysis (FA) efforts on-site at supplier facilities.
  • Act as Tesla’s technical point of contact for battery material manufacturing processes.
  • Manage projects at supplier sites to ensure on-time product qualification milestones.

🔧 Skills & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in battery material production and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques:
    • PSD, BET, XRD, GCMS, FTIR
    • SEM, EDS, DSC, DTA
    • Hardness testing, Titration, Stress-strain analysis
  • Strong knowledge of battery material performance characteristics and how they influence cell performance.
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical data analysis and process capability assessments.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% for supplier development and audits (both domestic and international).
