About the Role
As a Senior Consultant – Backend Developer (Spring Boot) in Deloitte’s Technology & Transformation – OIDS (Enterprise Application Development) team, you will design and implement robust backend systems that power digital governance platforms.
You’ll work on enterprise-grade applications, integrating modern technologies like AI/ML, blockchain, and cloud computing, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance digital solutions for public sector initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
As part of the Backend Development team, you will:
- Develop and Maintain Applications: Write efficient, reusable, and high-quality code in Java and Spring Boot for mission-critical applications.
- Integration Development: Build RESTful APIs and integrate front-end components with server-side logic.
- Application Optimization: Design for high availability, scalability, and low latency performance.
- Security Compliance: Implement data protection, OAuth/JWT, and other secure coding practices.
- Database Integration: Manage relational (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch) databases efficiently.
- Performance Tuning: Optimize backend systems for reliability and scalability under heavy workloads.
- Code Review & Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, enforce standards, and ensure test-driven development (TDD).
- Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers, DevOps teams, and product owners in an Agile/Scrum setup.
- Innovation: Explore and integrate emerging technologies like AI/ML and blockchain when relevant to project goals.
Skills Required
- Proficient in Java 8+, with strong object-oriented programming principles.
- Expertise in Spring Boot (5.x or newer), Spring Cloud, and Spring Security.
- Strong experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and web services (JSON).
- Hands-on experience in Microservices Architecture, distributed systems, and containerized environments.
- Knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).
- Proficiency in caching (Redis, Memcached) and messaging queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
- Hands-on experience in JUnit, Mockito, or TestNG for automated testing.
- Experience using Git for version control and CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk.
- Understanding of secure coding practices, OAuth2, JWT, and TLS/SSL.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.

- Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) – Java SE
- Spring Professional Certification

- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud-native application design (AWS, Azure, GCP).
