About the Role
The Senior Reliability Engineer (SRE) role applies software engineering principles to IT operations to reduce risk, improve reliability, and optimize cost. The SRE ensures business-critical systems are resilient, highly available, and scalable while implementing automation and observability solutions across the infrastructure and platform lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Define SLA/SLO/SLI metrics for products and services
- Embed resilient design principles throughout the product lifecycle
- Reduce manual effort (toil) through automation and CI/CD improvements
- Develop observability solutions to track and measure SLA adherence
- Optimize IT infrastructure and operational costs (FinOps)
- Manage critical situations and automate SOPs/runbooks
- Analyze system trends and perform data-driven performance analysis
Skills & Attributes
- 7+ years in software product engineering, processes, and systems
- Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, web servers (Tomcat/IBM HTTP), application servers, and RDBMS (Oracle)
- Expertise in CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps, GitLab, Jenkins) and IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
- Proficient in Linux (RHEL) performance monitoring and APM/Observability tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, ELK Stack)
- Knowledge of microservices, Spring Boot, cloud-native architectures, and J2EE design patterns
- Skilled in performance tuning, troubleshooting scalability/availability issues, thread/heap dump analysis
- Familiarity with automation scripting languages (Python) and collaborative tools like Git, Jira, Confluence
- AI/ML and data analytics knowledge is a plus
