Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Drainage Engineer at Mott MacDonald, you will:
- Lead the design and delivery of stormwater and surface water drainage systems for highways, rail, and urban infrastructure projects.
- Prepare DMRB design reports and technical specifications for drainage systems.
- Conduct flood risk assessments (FRA) and drainage strategy reports for diverse projects.
- Manage end-to-end project execution — from concept design to detailed construction documentation.
- Coordinate with UK-based offices on design integration, project management, and financial control.
- Ensure all projects meet QA, CDM, sustainability, and HSE standards.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and ensure technical excellence across the design team.
- Maintain proactive communication and collaboration across disciplines and project stakeholders.
Required Skills & Expertise
- Proficiency in InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, and Causeway Flow software.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and hydrological design principles.
- Experience in SuDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) design.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on design optimization.
- Strong report writing and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of UK design standards (DMRB) and drainage design codes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- Prior experience working within a UK-based consultancy is highly desirable.
