EY is seeking a US FSO BTC – SALT WAM Senior Manager in Bengaluru to lead, mentor, and supervise tax professionals in state and local taxation (SALT) for Wealth & Asset Management (WAM) clients. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage complex state tax compliance, withholding, and composite returns, while building and nurturing high-performing teams. Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Develop, mentor, and supervise Analysts and Advanced Analysts.
- Act as a counsellor and coach, providing constructive feedback and guidance.
- Foster collaboration and open communication within the team.
- Monitor team progress and ensure timely, high-quality work.
- Encourage critical thinking, knowledge sharing, and professional growth.
Tax Compliance & Advisory
- Prepare and review state tax returns and relevant disclosure statements.
- Stay updated on recent tax reforms and their impact on various jurisdictions.
- Ensure correct application of state withholding, composite returns, nexus concepts, and unitary/combined/consolidated filings.
- Identify and escalate issues proactively to Assistant Managers or Managers.
- Promote the use of tax methodologies, tools, and technology, including GoSystems.
Client & Operational Excellence
- Respond promptly to client and team queries, maintaining a sense of urgency.
- Build positive relationships with internal professionals and clients, demonstrating integrity and professionalism.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Maintain focus on quality drivers for work assignments while achieving engagement goals.
Skills and Attributes
- Strong knowledge of state and local taxes (SALT) and WAM-specific taxation.
- Proficiency in tax software tools (GoSystems preferred).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and drive results.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Positive, proactive, and collaborative approach to team and client challenges.
Qualifications
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Finance, Numerical, or Statistical background.
- EA Certification is an added advantage.
- 3-4 years of relevant SALT experience in US taxation.
